Description
In general, Team Leaders should model every aspect of behavior required for associates at JIC including professionalism, teamwork, job performance, and support for JIC plans, policies and operations. They must carry out their routine responsibilities as well as other assigned tasks by motivating associates positively and constructively whenever possible. Team Leaders must take initiative (be proactive) to solve problems and overcome obstacles necessary to complete their work. Also, they must follow up and thoroughly communicate appropriately.
Safety
Enforce and follow all Safety rules outlined in the JIC Associate Handbook. Enforce & follow JIC's Lock-Out Policy. Address all safety issues/violations accordingly. (Kevlar, Ear Plugs, Safety Glasses, Steel Toed Boots, and Uniform Wear).
Productivity
Operate their areas in such a way as to make the required production in the most efficient manner. Ensure that all lines/processes are run within the set cycle time. Verify that production is scheduled in order to meet our customers demands
Quality
Team Leaders should operate their areas in such a way that they do not accept, do not make and do not pass on bad parts. When problems arise, they should be communicated and addressed immediately so that the root cause is identified and counter measured (SNAP). The Team Leader shall:
1- Ensure line(s) are producing good quality parts.
2- Perform Part Quality Confirmation to verify part quality.
3- Follow and enforce all JIC quality and containment procedures.
4- Ensure all associates are trained on quality procedures and are aware of Quality Policy.
5- Communicate all quality problems with line associates and Hot Stamp supervision.
6- Initiate corrective action for any quality issue, assist/support investigation of problems.
7- All rework parts should be properly contained or completed before the end of the shift.
C.O.P./5-S
It is the Team Leader's responsibility to maintain the cleanliness and order of their line at all times. The Team Leader shall:
1- Keep racks, baskets, parts and any other line side items organized at all times.
2- Ensure that daily scheduled C.O.P. duties are completed by associates.
3- Must complete Team Leader Duties as scheduled in C.O.P. Duties
4- Ensure line is cleaned and set up properly for next shift.
5- Turn off all fans and task lighting at end of shift
Cost
The Team Leader should control the cost of items (gloves, tips markers, etc ) used on their line and help control waste. The Team Leader should help reduce scrap and overtime.
Training
Team Leaders are responsible for the training of all their associates in their area on Operation Standards and other job related procedures. Training will consist of demonstrating the job, start-up checks, Plex, loading and unloading material, and signing the associate off on the Operation Standard.
Documentation
Team Leaders are responsible for completion of documentation associated with the operations in their area. This includes making sure that all items (including downtime, scrap & rework) are recorded and time sheets are completed. All information must be accurate.
Associate Issues
Team Leaders should help associates understand company policies, benefits, and operating procedures including expectations for associate behavior. Team Leaders shall positively motivate associates. Team Leaders shall coach associates to improve performance and report any problems to their Coordinator. Confidentiality must be maintained on any associate issues.
Communication
Team Leaders should communicate to their associates any information concerning their job. During start up meeting, Team Leader must actively participate as Leadership to assist in informing associates of Safety, Quality and Production issues and any other information that may be passed on to them from their supervision. A Team Leader must report all issues/concerns back to their supervision.
Line Prep
Team leaders should insure that the lines are set up on proper model types and stocked for the next shift. Enough racks and parts should be lineside to run at least the first 60pcs on the next shift to minimize downtime. Plex should be set up on the correct model types with all source scanned in at the work station.
Qualifications
JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
Possess skills to communicate with associates, management team, other department managers and senior management.
Strong communication skills to provide direction and motivation to team members. Able to motivate associates and team members to keep process and equipment in good condition to assure smooth running operation.
Able to quickly ascertain a situation and be decisive in identifying defects and solving problems with equipment and process to avoid missed quality, delivery or safety concerns.
Develop task list and assure on-time implementation of tasks.
Able to operate with basic computer skills, including preparing memos and responding to emails.
Related production experience.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent to draw and interpret mathematical data.
Must be passionate, highly motivated individual to lead a Hot Stamping team.
Performs above Essential Duties & Responsibilities in satisfactory manner.
Works on building relationships and collaborating with production team members to ensure proper utilization of lines and equipment.
Must be self-starter with own continuous improvement agenda.
Must have an energy level and attention to detail that routinely delivers expected results.
