REPORTS TO: Principal

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt

WORK SCHEDULE: 190 days (Frasier Center)

SALARY AND BENEFITS: EARLY CHILDHOOD EC4 Scale

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and length of contract to be established by the Board of Education. The annual period of service for the Infant, Toddler, and Preschool Teacher is 242 days at College Heights and 190 days at Frasier Center.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: To provide appropriate learning experiences and educational opportunities for each student assigned to the classroom.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students

Teaches and assess College Heights ECLC approved curriculum

Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil

Plans and implements developmentally appropriate interactive learning experiences

Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of class newsletters, daily child report forms, phone calls, conferences, emails, etc.

Establishes and maintains an effective learning atmosphere

Evaluates pupils' academic, physical, language, and social growth, keeps appropriate records and communication through College Heights ECLC parent report forms

Establishes and maintains NAEYC standards in the classroom,

Maintains a classroom portfolio showing documentation of meeting NAEYC standards

Identifies pupil needs, develops strategies, and makes appropriate referrals through the school's student support model

Is supportive of education-related purposes outside the instructional day including PTA events, family engagement events, etc.

Plans and coordinates the work of paraprofessionals, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips

Creates an environment for learning that embraces cultural diversity through functional and attractive displays, exhibits of student work, and family photographs

Participates in professional learning to increase skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities and serves on committee's when needed

Ensures adherence to good health and safety procedures

Participates in daily duties and responsibilities within the school

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises classroom, students, paraprofessional, and volunteers.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

AA degree in education or related field

Three (3) years experience in an early childhood program preferred

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in education or related field

EVALUATION: Performance of this job shall be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of certified personnel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: To perform the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, or hear. Lifting up to 30 pounds may be required on an occasional basis. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required of this job include close vision and distance vision
