JOB GOAL: Paraprofessional will provide overall support for students with IEP's.
Areas of support may include instructional, self-care, physical, behavioral, and/or toileting.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * High school graduate or equivalent.
* Demonstrate ability to work with parents, students and support personnel.
* Good communication skills.
* Good attendance record.
* Good organization skills.
* Ability to be self-directed.
* Ability to engage in problem identification and problem solving on behalf of the student(s). * Ability to establish a positive rapport with staff/parents/students.
* Previous experience working with children with disabilities preferred.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Works in collaboration with general and special education staff to support students with IEPs in the least restrictive environment.
* Functions under the guidance of special education teacher, and supports students' accommodations and modifications per their IEPs in a 1:1, small group, or whole class setting.
* Supports students with specific plans developed by the special education professional team.
* Assists the special education classroom teacher and support personnel in the implementation of health care, behavior, and instructional programming.
* Manages both behavioral and instructional logs.
Maintains and implements data collection systems.
* Completes Medicaid billing as applicable.
* Utilizes technology and/or assisting devices to support students with disabilities.
* Supervise students in the lunchroom, halls, and outside as assigned by supervisor.
* Supervisory aide hours/responsibility is part of this position.
* Ability to do physical activity such as bending, lifting, and moving quickly preferred.
* Provides clinic/first aid/medication support to students.
* Assists and performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
