Description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

As part of the Parks and Recreation team, reporting directly to the Community Center Manager, this position leads

the safe and attentive care to youth in the Child Watch room of the Bob Crane Community Center (BCCC).

This is a part-time role which works within the normal operating hours of the Child Watch room.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: For purposes of 42 USC 12101:

• Organize and execute the daily functions of the Child Watch room during normal room hours to included

the short term care for children ages three months to nine years.

• Communicates with parents/guardians upon pick up and drop off and ensures that they have properly

registered and have available visits within the RecTrac system;

• Lead various activities to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for children using the Child Watch

room.

• Enforce all Child Watch and building policies and procedures.

• Keep Child Watch room, equipment and supplies clean and sanitized and ready for use by children.

• Provide a safe environment and is courteous to patrons at all times

• Provide general first aid and respond to emergencies in cases of participants injury or illness. Initiate

building emergency actions plans and fill out appropriate accident and incident reports when needed.

• Lead the opening and closing procedures of the Child Watch room.

• Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs other duties as required. (5%)

Typical Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School graduate or equivalent; some college preferred;

• Must be at least 16 years of age;

• Minimum of 12 months experience in babysitting, childhood development, or other childcare

experience;

• Must be able to work well with children and have the ability to provide a safe environment;

• Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• CPR and First Aid certification for infant, child and adult required;

• American Red Cross Babysitting certification preferred.
