General Summary
Under the indirect supervision of a Registered Radiologic Technologist, general supervision of the Chief Technologist and reporting to the Director, the Medical Imaging Student Tech provides patient services utilizing radiologic imaging equipment, making a record ot the exam produced for interpretation by the radiologist. Will perform studies in acceptable manner complying with all regulations and policies. May assist in other Medical Imaging divisions as trained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Greeting patients, visitor, and employees in a professional and courteous manner
Verifies patient identity and exam to be provided in accordance with current policies
Conduct MRI screening interviews of patients to identify the area of interest that needs to be examined, as well as detecting any contraindications
Reviewing prescriptions, patient history, consent if needed
Maintains an on-going awareness of patient's needs while assisting the technologist.
Maintains supply of inventory by checking stock and replenishing supplies
Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
Effectively coordinates patient schedules in coordination with clerical personnel, technologists and maintain throughput and meet the needs of the patients
Perform Scheduling and registration functions as required
Education
Candidate who is enrolled in good standing in a Radiology (Imaging) based college or certification program.
Work Experience
Certification/License
Must have acceptably completed one year of training. BLS through the American Heart Association required.
Mental/Physical Requirements
Close mental and visual attention required for sustained periods of time. Frequently works under stressful conditions due to demands of customers and the critical condition of some patients. Must be able to transport self throughout department. Standing, walking, sitting, carrying/lifting (up to 35 lbs.), turning, carrying, pushing, pulling and stooping.
Working Conditions
Potential exposure to infectious diseases, disagreeable odors from patients, anesthetics, disinfectants, and/or chemicals. May be exposed to controlled radiation exposure. Will be subject to call on a regular or as scheduled basis. Will be scheduled various shifts and days of the week as necessary to efficiently and effectively provide services.
