Employment Status Full Time Department School of Education & Psychology Job Summary The incumbent teaches HPER courses, contributing to the optimum achievement of the instructional, research, public service, student recruitment, retention and progression, goals and objectives of the department, division and university.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities * Knowledgeable of National Association for Sport and Physical Education Standards * Demonstrated integrity, loyalty and time management skills * Strong analytical, observational, and problem-solving skills * Excellent research, writing and interpersonal skills * Excellent communication and collaborative skills * Passion for teaching and engaging with students * Skilled in mentoring students * Ability to work well with colleagues and foster a collegial environment conducive to teamwork and a student's high level of learning Essential Job Functions Conducts a requisite number of classes/teaches assigned subjects Provides guidance and supervision to students Creates and maintains an environment conducive to excellence in teaching, learning, and research Preparation and formulation of curricula focused on his/her subject(s) Participates in departmental meetings and holds scheduled office hours Maintains equipment in the laboratory, makes arrangements for laboratory practical sessions, and provides materials to students Provides academic support to other faculty members Serves on departmental and University committees, as assigned Coordinates (or assists with coordination of) the Sports Management Program Other related duties as assigned by the supervisor Qualifications * Doctorate in Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport Management, or related area discipline.

Published work is preferred * Three (3) years experience in higher education Licensing and Certifications Mississippi State Department of Education License for Physical Education preferred.
