Job Title: Sterilization Technician
Location: Gainesville GA
Shift: 8am-5pm
Contract: 26 weeks’
Job Description:
The Sterilization Technician is responsible for cleaning, decontaminating, sterilizing, and preparing instruments and equipment used in clinical procedures. This role is critical to ensuring infection control, patient safety, and compliance with healthcare standards in fast-paced clinical environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect, transport, and decontaminate used instruments and equipment
Operate sterilization equipment (e.g., autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, washers)
Package, label, and store sterilized instruments according to protocols
Inspect instruments for cleanliness and functionality before and after sterilization
Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles and equipment maintenance
Follow infection prevention and control procedures in compliance with OSHA and CDC guidelines
Ensure proper inventory and restocking of sterile supplies
Assist with room turnover and setup for clinical or surgical procedures
Report any damaged instruments or equipment to the supervisor
Adhere to safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized work environment
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
Completion of a sterile processing or central services technician program (preferred)
Certification (CRCST, CBSPD, or similar) preferred or required depending on facility
Prior experience in sterilization or infection control (preferred)
Basic understanding of microbiology, aseptic techniques, and sterilization methods
Ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and cleanliness
