Position Summary: As an In-House Substitute Teacher, you will play a vital role in maintaining instructional continuity and a positive learning environment when classroom teachers are absent.

This position requires flexibility, strong classroom management skills, and the ability to engage students across a range of developmental levels from Pre-K through Grade 8.

You will implement prepared lesson plans, support students' academic progress, and work closely with faculty and staff to uphold the school's standards of excellence.

Qualifications: * Valid CT teaching certification or BA degree in elementary education (or related field) or approval as a substitute teacher by Region One.

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

* Ability to adapt to various classroom settings and student needs.

Essential Functions: * Supervise and manage classrooms effectively when teachers are absent * Understand and follow lesson plans * Use technology as directed by the teacher or administrator * Understand and apply health and safety protocols * Support students' academic and social-emotional development * Collaborate effectively with staff Working Conditions: * School setting serving students in PK through grade 8 * Daily assignments may vary across grade levels and subject areas * Requires flexibility, adaptability, and a student-first mindset Physical Requirements: * Must be able to remain in a stationary position (standing or seated) for extended periods * Ability to move about the classroom and school building * Must be able to lift and carry instructional materials (up to 25 lbs) * Ability to supervise students during transitions, recess, and lunch periods (indoor/outdoor) * Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and provide supervision Employment Requirements: * Criminal background and Department of Children and Families (DCF) records checks * Participation in Region One Professional Development Training Salary/Hours/Work Year: * Salary: $135/day * Hours: 8:30 a.m.

to 3:20 p.m.

* Work Year: Will follow the 2025-2026 school calendar (August 2024-June 2025); see the attached.
