The Clinical Instructor works under a course coordinator in the undergraduate BS degree nursing program in Brooklyn, NY. Instructor would be at a designated clinical site with 6-8 students with an emphasis on the care of a patient for a fifteen week semester. A clinical is on a designated day of the week for the entire semester, depending on the needs of the program and semester schedule. Clinical instructors must be available for all clinical assignment dates on the schedule. Instructors are hired for Fall and Spring semesters of the program. Clinicals can be held in hospitals and patient care facilities in any of the five boroughs, depending on approvals and needs of the program.
Complete facility orientation prior to the start of clinical
Create patient assignments prior to the start of the clinical day
Supervise students in all aspects of care of patients/clients
Review and provide feedback for all written clinical assignments
Submit grades for assignments as directed by course coordinator
Provide weekly feedback to students in the clinical area
Complete midterm/final clinical evaluations
Plan instructional activities for pre/post conferences
Communicate and issues at the clinical site with course coordinator
Responsible for all clinical hours assigned to the course.
Assist in Proctoring exams if needed
Attend faculty meetings once a semester
Degree Requirements:
Master of Science in Nursing
Other Requirements:
Valid, unencumbered New York State RN License
2-5 years experience in clinical supervision of students and clinical nursing experience
Current BLS
Travel Requirements:
Weekly, to assigned clinical site within the five boroughs of New York City
