Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Infusion and Specialty Pharmacy Services maintains compliance with all state and federal regulations associated with Specialty Pharmacy and Infusion Services and is responsible for, developing, supervising, and coordinating all activities of the respective ambulatory service lines in collaboration with the Director of Outpatient Pharmacy.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited College of Pharmacy required.
Master's degree in related field preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years' managerial experience in a Pharmacy, or five (5) years in respective service line required.
Previous managerial experience in specialty pharmacy or infusion pharmacy preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Current Pharmacist license in the State of South Carolina.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing sufficient staff coverage for anticipated workload, this includes hiring, termination, training, and scheduling of employees.
Ensures that all pharmacy/ infusion staff members are currently licensed/certified/registered and have adequate Continuing Education credits.
Ensures facilities are appropriately permitted and compliant with all applicable standards for accreditation and oversight bodies
Ensures the ongoing development and implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services, as well as implements and maintains quality control program as appropriate.
Oversees the prior authorization process for infusion and specialty pharmacy to minimize delays to patient care and ensure financial viability of the respective service lines.
Oversees and manages all on-site inspections, assisting inspectors and surveyors in the performance of their duties and provides reports as required in follow-up to surveys, inspections, and audits.
Conducts interviews and evaluates the qualifications and competence of staff, and designs an orientation that integrates employee's needs, as well as hospital and department requirements.
Ensures the completion of documentation for orientation requirements.
Lead operational activities of the specialty pharmacy program including marketing, prescription capture, policy creation, accreditation, clinical services, and daily operations.
Responsible for the procurement, inventory control, distribution, storage, and security of all medications in all storage areas throughout the respective area of oversight.
Collaborate with payers to achieve appropriate credentialing for network inclusion.
Collaborate with key stakeholders on specialty pharmacy and infusion center planning.
Ensures that all medications are labeled in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Establish policy and procedures for drug recalls and ensure they are followed in a timely manner.
