HOURS Full time position, 12 months, 260 days Contract Unit: This position is part of the Unit II bargaining unit for Administrators and Supervisors.
FLSA: Exempt QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of 5 years successful classroom teaching experience Eligibility for Maryland Teaching Certificate with Administrator I endorsement National Board Certification required Experience supporting novice/non-tenured teachers and instructional assistants Ability to organize, delegate and supervise programs and staff Experience with providing professional development and/or training experiences for adult learners in both small and large group settings Demonstrated leadership skills and personal qualities necessary to work successfully with students, teachers, administrators, supervisors, and other stakeholders Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal Excellent oral and written communication skills Knowledge of Maryland's Blueprint, including the Career Ladder, and its implications for recruitment and the development of high quality and diverse teachers and leaders RESPONSIBILITIES Direct the design, implementation, and evaluation of a National Board Certification support program Support, supervise and evaluate National Board mentors Provide vision and leadership for the recruitment and development of high-quality diverse teachers and leaders in Wicomico County Public Schools (WCPS) Lead recruitment efforts for hiring teachers.
Interview applicants for teaching positions and make recommendations for employment Collaborate with the Human Resources Department and district leaders to ensure recruitment practices intentionally build a pipeline of diverse candidates that represent the demographics of the student population Implement hiring practices which include interview protocols, questions, and performance tasks that reveal candidates' knowledge, strengths, and experience while mitigating and eliminating opportunities for implicit bias Direct the design and implementation of a "Grow Your Own" program Collaborate with institutions of higher education and educator preparation programs Assist in the implementation of the WCPS New Teacher Induction Program Construct and manage a budget based on needs of the National Board Certification and Teacher Recruitment programs Develop and implement progress monitoring tools for National Board Certification, Teacher Recruitment and "Grow Your Own" programs Serve on district committees and school-based Instructional Leadership Teams Attend MSDE collaborative meetings Perform other duties as assigned
