Job Title Regional Admissions Counselor (Austin & San Antonio area) Position Number 998885 Department Admissions Salary $46,062 Remote Yes Job Summary/Description The Regional Admissions Counselor plays a key role in recruiting and supporting prospective students within the Austin and San Antonio regions.
Working remotely from the designated area, this position represents Angelo State University to students, families, high school counselors, and community college partners.
This role focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships with high schools, colleges, and community organizations, while providing exceptional customer service to prospective students and their families.
The counselor also assists with select campus events, ensuring a welcoming and informative experience that supports the University's enrollment goals.
Typical Duties/Job Duties Lead Territory Recruitment Efforts * Develop and execute a successful recruitment plan for the assigned region.
* Provide exceptional customer service to prospective students, families, and key partners at high schools and community colleges.
* Analyze application and enrollment trends to inform outreach strategies and adjust efforts based on data and feedback.
* Represent Angelo State University at recruitment events, delivering presentations to prospective and admitted students, parents, and other target audiences.
Support Prospective Students * Serve as a knowledgeable resource on admissions standards, placement tests, academic requirements, and FAFSA processes.
* Maintain a broad understanding of university programs and services to provide accurate information and make appropriate referrals.
* Ensure students are informed of all deadlines, procedures, and eligibility criteria to support their enrollment journey.
Engage Students Through CRM & Outreach * Use the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to identify and connect with prospective students through text, email, phone, and virtual meetings.
* Keep outreach efforts organized by logging interactions accurately and promptly.
* Develop targeted outreach strategies to high schools, community colleges, and other partners.
Build & Maintain Partnerships * Develop strong relationships with high school and community college partners by sharing timely, relevant information that supports student success.
* Stay informed about academic calendars within the region to guide recruitment timelines.
* Connect students to appropriate university services and provide updates to internal and external stakeholders to enhance the student experience.
Contribute to a Collaborative Team Environment * Support the Office of Admissions by assisting with phone coverage, email responses, and event preparation during peak times.
* Actively participate in team meetings, committees, and special projects.
* Assist with training and supporting colleagues during high-volume travel seasons.
* Occasionally travel to San Angelo to assist with on-campus events and programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge * Undergraduate admissions policies, procedures, and eligibility criteria * University academic programs, student services, and campus resources * Financial aid processes, including FAFSA deadlines and required documentation * Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems such as Salesforce * Data-driven recruitment strategies and enrollment trends Skills * Strong interpersonal and customer service skills for engaging with diverse audiences * Effective verbal and written communication, including public speaking and presentations * Proficiency in Salesforce, Microsoft Office Suite, and virtual communication tools * Event planning and coordination for recruitment and outreach activities * Analytical skills to interpret enrollment data and adjust recruitment strategies * Critical thinking and problem-solving in identifying challenges and solutions * Time management and multitasking in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Abilities * Build and maintain relationships with students, families, counselors, and community partners * Work independently and exercise sound judgment in decision-making * Travel and represent the university at high school visits, college fairs, and off-campus events * Organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines * Adapt quickly to changing procedures and shifting priorities * Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments and teams * Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions * Work evenings and weekends as needed to support recruitment activities Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree required plus two years of experience working with high school students, admissions, recruitment, or related fields.
* Currently living in or willing to relocate to the Austin or San Antonio area.
