They must have previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport and possess a deep understanding of the technical aspects of the sport.
The Assistant Coach serves as a role model for student athletes and assists in their development of character, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
They work closely with the head coach, athletic director, and principals to achieve the objectives of the sports program.
Reports to: Head Coach Duties and Responsibilities: * Assist the head coach in implementing the athletic policies.
* Stay knowledgeable about system, state, and league regulations and ensure consistent implementation and interpretation among the coaching staff.
* Understand and follow the proper administrative line of command, referring requests or grievances through appropriate channels.
Attend required meetings.
* Collaborate with the head coach to establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by the coaching staff.
* Design conferences, clinics, and staff meetings to ensure staff awareness of the overall program.
* Train and inform staff, encouraging their professional growth through attendance at coaching clinics according to policy.
* Delegate specific duties, supervise their implementation, and evaluate all assistant coaches at the end of the season.
* Maintain discipline, address grievances, and foster morale and cooperation among the coaching staff.
* Assist the athletic director in scheduling, transportation arrangements, and requirements for tournaments and special events.

Communicate with parents regarding student athletes who are dropped or become ineligible.

* Secure all doors, lights, windows, and locks before leaving the building if custodians are not on duty.
