KKV Pacific Voices Community Navigator VISTA Pacific Voices is a safe-space after-school program focused on helping participants stay rooted in their cultures and traditions, assisting with homework, and helping families access KKV clinical and community programs.

The program has recently expanded into the Kalihi District Park and intends to outreach to more families in Kalihi Valley Homes and other parts of Kalihi.

Currently, there are 26 student participants with 15 active online and in-person activities (tutoring, games, art activities, etc.). Additionally, the program currently helps 19 student families access services at KKV and other organizations relating to financial relief, food support, health programs, and immigration document support.

VISTA activities include: (1) volunteer recruitment and management (2) database creation and management (3) story-gathering sessions with the community and (4) cultivating partnerships with other KKV programs and departments and outside organizations.

The VISTA will have opportunities to be trained in mandatory reporting, de-escalation, trauma and resiliency informed care, civil rights, compliance, emergency preparedness, KKV's Pilinaha four connections framework, and medical interpretation (if applicable and interested). Kalihi residents and those familiar with the Kalihi area preferred.

Member Duties : The VISTA will support Pacific Voices' various activities that combat poverty through educational support, health education, cultural competency, and land-based education for Kalihi's public housing youth.

The VISTA will assist with: (1) recruitment and management of a growing pool of volunteers (2) the development of a shared volunteer database comprised of quantitative and qualitative data to be utilized for current and future grant-funding (3) the development of guides and other support tools to help participants and participant families with financial assistance, access to care, improved food access, and education services (4) increasing partnerships between Pacific Voices and outside organizations to support the program's expansion throughout Kalihi Valley.

The VISTA is expected to spend the first 3 months of service familiarizing themselves with KVIBE, KKV's youth services, and KKV's other programs to understand the greater health framework of the organization.
