UPMC Kane is hiring a Casual Medical Assistant to float between multiple clinic locations-travel is required for this role.
With variable hours Monday through Friday between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM, and no weekends or holidays, this position offers work-life balance while gaining experience across a variety of care settings.
Prior experience as a Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, or in a related healthcare role is preferred, but on-the-job training is available for the right candidate.

In this role, there is the opportunity to- + Check schedules and organize patient flow efficiently.
+ Accompany patients to exam or procedure rooms.
+ Assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, specimen collection, and exam preparation.
+ Collect patient history and vital signs; perform screenings per provider guidelines.
+ Relay provider instructions to patients and families clearly.
+ Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, level-one labs, and other clinic procedures per protocol.
+ Assist physicians with procedures and document patient information accurately.
+ Administer injectable medications and vaccines under physician supervision.
+ Answer phone calls and provide accurate information, including patient education as directed.
+ Obtain lab and imaging reports, hospital notes, and referral information as needed.
+ Complete forms and requisitions; schedule appointments and verify insurance and demographics.
+ Prepare and manage charts to ensure information is completed and filed correctly.
+ Send and receive medical records in compliance with HIPAA and applicable regulations.
+ Prepare patient rooms and set up instruments according to department protocol.
+ Clean exam rooms and equipment between patients and document maintenance tasks.
+ Manage supply inventory and restock exam and procedure rooms as needed.
+ Comply with OSHA, CLIA, and Department of Health regulations.
+ Maintain strict confidentiality of all medical records and sensitive information.
+ Follow all UPMC policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
Required: + High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.
Preferred: + Prior Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, or other relevant healthcare experience.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: + CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
