Prevention Educator

Prevention Educator Through the Gem State Public Health program, members will conduct needs assessments regarding collaborations and partnerships, and recruit potential partnerships as well as coordinate meetings, design training materials, and provide other support to public health agencies.

Members will be trained in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Sources of Strength (SOS), and safeTALK.

Members will coordinate ASIST, SOS and safeTALK trainings for community members to increase the number of suicide prevention interventionists throughout Idaho.

The program will offer members academic advising and the opportunity to explore degree options that focus on public health.

Member Duties : This AmeriCorps member position focuses on suicide prevention training and mental health promotion/education.

This position will support activities related to Living Works Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Living Works safeTALK training, and Sources of Strength (mental health promotion program). Responsibilities include marketing and outreach, coordinating registration, Preparing class materials, and conducting quantitative analysis for impact reporting.

Additional duties may include distributing mental health resource information, participating in community service activities, developing partnerships, and conducting needs assessments to increase, enhance, and expand the capacity of existing public health programs and services.
