Performs a variety of duties and tasks under the direction of the OR Supervisor/Director Surgical Services, to ensure a smooth flowing operation of the Peri-operative areas.
Services as a liaison between staff, physicians, the ancillary departments and the public to provide optimum level of care to infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
The position requires the person to safeguard and maintain professional ethics regarding information necessary for effective job performance.
Responsibilities: * Transports patients from various areas of the Hospital to the Operating Room holding area.
* Notifies RN on nursing unit prior to arrival on the unit to prepare patient for the Operating Room.
* Reviews chart for consent and completion of the pre=operative checklist with RN's signature.
* Assists staff in SDS/RR with clerical duties, i.e.
making charts, checking for H&P, signatures, lab work, EKG, both the day prior to and the day of surgery.
Assists the nurse with the admitting process of SDS patients following standards of care.
* Assist patients pre and post op with dressing and prepare patients for discharge.
* Measures Patients vital signs.
* Assist nurses with comfort and safety measures including patient nutrition, positioning, changing linens, elimination and ambulation.
Assists patients in making them comfortable on the stretcher and being properly gowned.
* Offers food/beverages post procedure after consulting with RN.
* Cleans/prepares room and stretcher for next patient and ensures SDS/PACU area is always clean.
* Anticipates and meets requirements for supplies and equipment by medical and nursing personnel in a timely and efficient manner.
Order supplies for all perioperative areas.
* Assists in cleaning and maintaining equipment to provide proper equipment care.
* Transports patients from Recovery room back to nursing units or lobby for discharge * Monitors usage patterns and PAR levels to ensure that there is sufficient quantity of C02 tanks, Oxygen and formalin.
* Assists Perioperative Assistant schedule outpatient procedures.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements: Experience: Previousexperiencepreferred.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Licenses / Certification: AHA BLS Required.
