Oxbow Calcining LLC is currently looking for a Chemist to join our team in our Enid, OK office. This position will be responsible for maintaining a high level of quality control and quality assurance for the certification of product quality as well as providing technical support and guidance for laboratory operations: procedure writing and training.
Job Duties
Adhere to Oxbow's Health & Safety Policies.
Understand and comply with all International Standards Organization (ISO) requirements relevant to the facility, including OSHA, environmental regulations, and quality standards.
Support quality policies and procedures.
Maintain and calibrate equipment systems for testing processes.
Review test sample preparation and methods for compliance with industry standards.
Maintain data management systems.
Assess quality and process outgoing shipments.
Generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs) following completion of truck, barge, or railcar loading and analysis.
Manage and communicate data related to special sample requests.
Provide timely and accurate data for process control.
Contribute to laboratory goals supporting operational efficiency.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory standards.
Purchase supplies and maintain inventory levels.
Verify that materials used and products produced meet required specifications.
Oversee and be accountable for laboratory activities within assigned responsibility.
Maintain ISO quality system requirements for data generation and calibration.
Ensure compliance with company programs.
Assist management with special projects, workflow improvements, and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience
Bachelor degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related field required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform duties outdoors in various weather conditions.
Capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving and positioning objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Frequently sits or stands for extended periods at a computer workstation.
May be required to move throughout the facility to coordinate work activities.
Ability to ascend stairs and ladders and to work at heights of approximately 35 feet.
Must successfully complete general physical fitness assessments.
Completion of all facility-specific safety training is required.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, both within the plant and with external auditors or examiners, are necessary.
Occasional work may take place in areas with moving, vibrating, or rotating equipment.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required includes eye and hearing protection, hard hat, task-appropriate gloves, steel-toed boots, dust mask, and fall protection gear.
Position may occasionally require weekend and/or evening hours.
