ABOUT THE POSITION

The Medical Therapy Program (MTP) is a specialized component of California Children's Services (CCS), providing physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), and Medical Therapy Conference (MTC) services to children and youth with disabling conditions, primarily related to neurological or musculoskeletal disorders.

The County of Marin is seeking a licensed and experienced Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist to serve as the Supervising Pediatric Therapist. This leadership role oversees a dedicated team of 5.25 FTE-including OTs, PTs, and a Therapy Aide-who collectively serve approximately 160 clients from birth to age 21.

Based at the Medical Therapy Unit at Marindale School in San Rafael, the Supervising Pediatric Therapist is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, supervision, and daily operations of the unit. In addition to administrative leadership, this role includes collaboration with school administrators, participation in statewide workgroups to advance best practices, and provision of direct clinical services as needed.

HIGHLY DESIRABLE:

Bilingual skills in Spanish and English are highly desirable.

Bilingual Testing/Certification: The successful candidate must possess bilingual skills and must demonstrate proficiency in both Spanish and and English prior to appointment. Our Highly Qualified Candidate

The ideal candidate is a licensed Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist with demonstrated expertise in pediatric therapy, including experience working with children who have conditions eligible under California Children's Services (CCS). They possess a strong understanding of infant and child development, as well as current, evidence-based therapy practices that support children in achieving their highest potential and quality of life.

This candidate brings at least one year of supervisory or lead experience, with a proven ability to motivate and support staff in a dynamic, team-based environment. They are both a team leader and a collaborative partner, skilled in building relationships and fostering a positive, inclusive workplace culture.

Key strengths include excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills. The candidate is culturally responsive, adaptable to change, and experienced in navigating cross-system collaboration. They are also adept at preparing clear and concise reports, including statistical data, to guide quality assurance and continuous improvement efforts within the program.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of

Principles and techniques of supervising staff.

Advanced principles, techniques, and developments in physical or occupational therapy, with emphasis on the physical and psychological issues of children who have neuromuscular and/or orthopedic disabilities.

Treatments directed toward facilitating normal postures and movements, inhibiting abnormal reflexes, and assisting coordination of movements.

Self-care activities; normal child development, sensory-integration techniques, and neuro-developmental sequencing.

Development, design, construction, care, and use of special equipment, skeletal anatomy, kinesiology, neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, and the objectives of physical and occupational therapy treatment.

Physical rehabilitation; and issues and challenges of the clients and the effects on their families.

Ability to

Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff.

Teach and train others in physical and/or occupational therapy methods.

Serve as a resource person and leader for staff; interpret and explain objectives and methods to team, patients, and parents.

Plan, organize, implement physical or occupational therapy programs; collect and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness.

Adapt various functions to therapeutic requirements of patients.

Use tact and understanding in interacting with patients and families.

Coordinate with other professional staff to secure carry-over in the treatment and training of patients.

Prepare accurate, concise reports, budgets, and records.

Communicate in a professional manner.

Represent the CCS program to interagency and community groups and to State CCS

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people and organizations.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

One year providing services to children with physical disabilities is highly desirable.
