Position: Horticulture Technician/Spray Technician Division: Operations Services Reports To: Maintenance Foreman Evaluation Tool: HCSCEE Salary Schedule: M1, M2, M4 Days Worked: 244 Days Revision Date: 8/2025 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Primary Job Goal: Maintain the health, appearance, and safety of landscaped areas through horticultural care and chemical application.
Responsibilities: * Safely apply and/or supervise the application of herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers to control pests, weeds, and plant diseases.
* Identify weeds, pests, and plant diseases to determine appropriate treatments methods.
* Maintain accurate records of chemical use, application rates, and treatment dates.
* Calibrate spray equipment and ensure proper maintenance and storage of chemical application tools.
* Follow all local, state, and federal regulations regarding chemical handling and application.
* May work with tractors, bush hogs, backhoes, and other large lawn equipment to accomplish task.
* Perform preventative maintenance as necessary.
* Work with other trades to complete assignments; may work outside of specific trade when needed to accomplish an assignment.
* Document time, materials, and equipment job cost accounting of work performed utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management Program (CMMS). * Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Essential Duties: * Minimum of three (3) years of applicable and verifiable work experience in grounds maintenance.
* High school diploma or state-approved High School Equivalency (HSE). * Must hold a valid Georgia driver's license.
* Valid state Pesticide Applicator License.
* Knowledge of safe chemical handling procedures and plant health care practices.
* Ability to read and interpret chemical labels and SDS sheets.
* Ability to work well with staff and the public; ability to effectively respond to inquiries or complaints from staff members, agencies, or members of the community.

* Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
* Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
Must be able to be present at the physical worksite.
* Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
* Ability to perform routine physical activities such as bending, lifting, and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
* Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communication skills are essential factors in performing essential tasks.
