The Ultrasound Technologist provides optimal ultrasound exams and/or procedures in an efficient and safe manner, to facilitate the physician's diagnosis. Customers may include neonates, infants, children, adolescent, adult, or geriatric customers.
Performs procedures accurately. Applies critical thinking skills appropriately. Recognizes emergent situations and responds appropriately.
Maintains accurate customer medical records. Ensures confidentiality of all medical records.
Utilizes Imaging and hospital computer systems correctly.
Interacts with physicians, co-workers, customers, and families in professional manner.
Has access to medications appropriate to their job duties.
Accepts other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals.

Applicable Only to the Heart and Vascular Institute Vascular Lab:
Interprets and presents preliminary examination findings to referring physicians/reading cardiologist for critical findings.
Recognizes appropriate indications for required examinations. Identifies situations where further study is important from a clinical perspective.
Assists customers during the course of the exam/procedure for issues of comfort and care.
Assists with the goal of acquiring IAC accreditation for HVI and once achieved a continuance to comply with IAC accreditation guidelines and standards.
Assist with collection of QA data.
Maintenance of positive study, procedure and stent surveillance logs.
Participates in activities for professional development and maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials.
Cleaning and re-stocking of vascular testing and/or procedure rooms. " Recognizes and complies with legal, regulatory, accrediting and procedural requirements related to area of responsibility.
