Career Technical Education Instructor - Heavy/Medium Truck (Power Equipment Technologies) ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: CTE Instructors will instruct students in the skills and knowledge required in a specific occupation or occupational field using a variety of teaching methods including discussions, demonstration, on-line instructional applications, audiovisual, laboratory, shop, field studies, hands-on and other appropriate teaching tools.

CTE Instructors will demonstrate knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups and the measurement and evaluation of the effectiveness of teaching methods.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

* Plan and conduct instructional activities for a balanced program which offers students opportunities to observe, question and investigate.

* Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study following curriculum guidelines/state requirements.

* Implement new high school curriculum requirements as deemed necessary by the state.

* Instruct students individually and in groups.

* Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects and clearly and concisely communicate those objectives to students.

* Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials in order to prevent injury to students and/or damage to equipment.

* Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law and district policies.

* Make referrals to job placement services.

* Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order and a safe school environment.

* Collaborate with other Instructors and administrators in the development, evaluation and revision of CTE school programs.

* Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help.

* Prepare materials for the classroom for class activities.

* Assign and grade class work and homework.

* Attend staff meetings, PLCs and serve on committees as required.

* Use technology and other materials to supplement curriculum/lessons.

* Supervise CTE Instructional Support Staff assigned to program/classroom.

* Maintain instructional/classroom records as requested/required.

* Maintain regular consistent attendance and punctuality.

* Maintain a professional personal appearance.

* Adhere to district health and safety procedures.

* Adhere to Board Policies.

* Maintain Confidentiality.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet Michigan Department of Education qualifications to be authorized/approved as a Vocational Education Instructor or 4,000 hours (2 years) of recent and relevant work experience.

4000 hours of relevant field experience in past five years, must be able to document.

Complaint/Grievance Procedure Notice I.

Any person believing that the Calhoun Intermediate School District or any of the District's staff has inadequately applied the principles and/or regulations of non-discrimination laws or district non-discrimination policies may bring forward a complaint, which shall be referred to as a grievance to the district's Civil Rights Coordinator.

The person who believes s/he has a valid basis for grievance shall discuss the grievance informally and on a verbal basis with the District's Civil Rights Coordinator, who shall in turn investigate the complaint and reply with verbal answer to the complainant.

S/He may initiate formal procedures according to the following steps: Step 1 A written statement of the grievance signed by the complainant shall be submitted to the District's Civil Rights Coordinator within five (5) business days of receipt of answers to the informal complaint.

The Coordinator shall further investigate the matters of grievance and reply in writing to the complainant within five (5) business days.

Step 2 If the complainant wishes to appeal the decision of the District's Civil Rights Coordinator, s/he may submit a signed statement of appeal to the Superintendent of Schools within five (5) business days after receipt of the Coordinator's response.

The Superintendent shall meet with all parties involved, formulate a conclusion and respond in writing to the complainant within ten (10) business days.

Step 3 If the complainant remains unsatisfied, s/he may appeal through a signed written statement to the Board of Education within five (5) business days of his/her receipt of the Superintendent's response in step two.

In an attempt to resolve the grievance, the Board of Education shall meet with the concerned parties and their representative within twenty (20) business days of the receipt of such an appeal.

A copy of the Board's disposition of the appeal shall be sent to each concerned party within ten (10) business days of this meeting.

The District's Coordinator, on request, will provide a copy of the District's grievance procedure and investigate all complaints in accordance with this procedure.
