Applications submitted for continuous recruitment opportunities will remain active for 6 months.

The Music Instructor plans, prepares, and teaches assigned courses in music.

The instructor evaluates student progress, maintains necessary records, and submits institutional reports in a timely manner.

The work is performed under the supervision of the Dean of Arts and Sciences.

* Meets and holds classes as scheduled; * Provides assistance to students; * Refers students to other college staff when necessary; * Prepares, implements, and evaluates student learning outcomes based on program outcomes; * Keeps current on subject matter and teaching methodologies; * Maintains student records and monitors student progress; * Completes and submits institutional reports in a timely manner; * Participates/assists with coordination of specific program/course management; * Continuously analyzes and evaluates instructional results to improve instruction; * Evaluates student progress; * Ensures course syllabi are prepared and available to students on the first day of class; * Provides supervisor with a copy of all course SLOs and SLO assessments; * Assists with connecting program learning outcomes to institutional competencies; * Conducts on-going self-evaluations to improve instructional techniques and methodologies; * Promotes a positive image of college; * Acquires computer/technology competencies as appropriate to position; * Maintains security of personal computer access; * Performs other professional or job-related duties as assigned.

Proficiently operate a computer and related software.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill, and abilities.

REQUIREMENTS: Education/Skills Required: Master's degree from a nationally accredited institution in Music or a master's degree from a nationally accredited institution with at least 18 graduate semester hours in a qualifying field.

Good communication skills.

Preferred: Master's degree in Music.

Bilingual.

Experience Preferred: Some directly related work experience.

Some teaching experience.

Some experience with instructional delivery via distance learning.

Some community college experience.
