Teaching responsibilities (4-4 load) will include undergraduate and graduate English courses, with particular focus on undergraduate composition courses, including Composition I and II, developmental writing courses, literacy pedagogy, and intensive, early-intervention courses.
The successful applicant will teach additional General Education courses as well as those that support the Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and Social Sciences and the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies programs.
Position responsibilities also include advising and mentoring students; developing new curriculum strategies; working with interdisciplinary faculty to support writing across the curriculum; and working with all areas of writing instruction to uphold best practices in teaching, assessment, and supplemental writing support services.
The successful applicant will also fulfill scholarship obligations including publication and conference presentation; provide service to the school, college, university, and profession; actively engage with committee work at the school, college, and university levels; and exhibit collegiality across all facets of participation in university culture.
Qualifications Doctorate in English or Composition/Rhetoric in hand at the start of employment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience teaching writing courses at the undergraduate level.
Experience teaching literacy pedagogy.
Salary Commensurate with experience and qualifications Minimum Qualifications Doctorate in English or Composition/Rhetoric in hand at the start of employment.
Preferred Qualifications Significant (at least three years) teaching experience in higher education is preferred.
The ideal candidate will also have experience developing and implementing student success initiatives and familiarity with working with students at an open-enrollment institution.
A record of scholarly publications and presentations is also preferred.
