Special Education Teacher Chaplin Elementary School anticipates hiring a highly qualified Special Education Teacher who demonstrates skills necessary to provide a safe and optimal learning environment for students with special needs in grades pre-k through six.

The teacher must have a strong understanding of student growth and developmental stages in order to effectively assess student needs and progress.

He/she will work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities: * Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development * Conduct formal/informal assessments of students * Organize/maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping * Design effective instruction to engage unique learners * Assist staff with implementing student IEPS and BIPs * Serve as a resource to parents and staff, liaison between home and school.

* Help students develop positive self-concept * Facilitates independence of students as learners * Effectively assess student needs and progress * Effectively meet the needs of exceptional students * Establish a positive learning environment * Ability to supervise para-educators * Ability to maintain data and make data-driven decisions Skills / Abilities: * Knowledge of current best-practices, theories and assessment methods * Knowledge of differentiated instruction * Ability to engage in self-reflection with regard to performance and professional growth * Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
