Description

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science in the College of Science, Engineering and Technology is accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor (biomedical engineering) position.

Examples of Duties

Serve as an effective teacher and mentor at the undergraduate and graduate levels by (1) employing innovative strategies to create active learning environments; (2) creating environments that foster collaboration and team building; and (3) actively participating in programming that supports the success of students (academically and professionally).

Develop curriculum in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, Cybersecurity, Control Systems or Embedded Systems.

Establish and sustain an externally funded research program in Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, Cybersecurity, Control Systems (autonomous systems, controls and robotics) or Embedded Systems (embedded processor systems, hardware cybersecurity, security and privacy in embedded systems).

Provide service to the department, the college, the university and profession.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

Ph.D. in one of the following areas: Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a Computer Science Professional license in Engineering, or a industry recognized certification.

Must have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate student education and success.

Be an effective communicator and have excellent interpersonal skills.

Be knowledgeable about effective pedagogical strategies.

Be able to provide guidance, support and academic advice to undergraduate and graduate students.

Strong analytical, observational and problem-solving skills.
