Summary: The position is in the Department of Health Sciences, Human Performance, and Communication Disorder.
This is a full-time, 9-month faculty position.
The rank and tenure-status of the position is negotiable based on qualifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Teach a variety of health and health education courses in the physical education and service programs.
(Biomechanics of Exercise, Exercise physiology, and Materials & Methods in Physical Education). * Advise students and serving on Department, College, and University committees.
* Perform research, including external funding, and scholarly publications in physical education or related areas.
* Perform professional service to the university, community, and profession.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.): * Earned doctorate in Health Education or related field * At least 5 years of successful teaching in higher education * Demonstrated ability and/or interest in working in a multi-ethnic, multicultural environment, documented commitment to excellence in teaching and service.
* Evidence of research and grant writing.
* Must have experience teaching a wide variety of courses and proficiency in teaching with the use of technology in the classroom.
* Must be able to provide positive team-oriented interaction with colleagues regarding curriculum and departmental decisions and model energetic and professional demeanor to students.
* Candidates with leadership experience in higher ed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Proficiency with MS Office and Blackboard and other relevant learning management software.
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
* Exceptional organizational and follow-through abilities.
* Ability to manage crises and problem solve multiple situations simultaneously in a collaborative work environment.
