Edwards School of Medicine, Marshall University, invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position.
The successful candidate will conduct cutting-edge research focused on the pathogenesis of Streptococcus pyogenes and Enterococcus faecalis, with an emphasis on understanding bacterial virulence mechanisms and developing innovative therapeutic strategies.
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to interdisciplinary research that aims to advance knowledge in the field of infectious diseases and improve treatment options for patients, particularly those with diabetic and polymicrobial infections.
Key Responsibilities: 1.
Design, conduct, and analyze experiments related to bacterial pathogenesis and host interactions.
2.
Utilize in vivo models, including murine systems, to investigate the complexities of bacterial infections.
3.
Conduct molecular biology techniques such as gene expression analysis, RNA sequencing, and proteomics.
4.
Collaborate with team members and other researchers to integrate findings and support ongoing projects.
5.
Prepare manuscripts for publication and present research findings at conferences and lab meetings.
6.
Assist in the supervision and training of junior lab members and students.
7.
Contribute to grant writing and the development of research proposals Location MUSOM - Marshall University School of Medicine Salary Range $59,000 to $65,000- Salary is commensurate with experience and internal equity Required Qualifications Education * Ph.D.
in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
Experience * Strong background in pathogenesis, microbiology, or immunology.
* Experience with in vivo models and animal handling.
* Proficiency in molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, cloning, sequencing). * Familiarity with data analysis software (e.g., GraphPad Prism, R) and laboratory * management tools.
* Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
