Hours: * During School year months: 2-6 hours Saturday Mornings * During Summer months: * Monday - 12:30pm-3:30pm * Wednesday - 12:30pm-3:30pm * Saturday - 8:45am-1:00pm Description: Instruct participants of a wide and varying age range, who are participating in the Otters Swim Lesson Program for individuals with disabilities.
Duties: * Teach proper form and technique within class outline.
* Demonstrate, explain, and instruct in an informative manner to children and adults.
* Teach and maintain effectiveness of the swim lesson program.
* Maintain class rosters, lesson plans, mid-season progress reports, and report cards.
* Maintain appropriate contact with parents of swim lesson participants and address questions or concerns of parents in a timely manner.
* Ensure swim lesson equipment is in good working order before use.
* Wear assigned uniforms at all times while on duty.
* Attend all pertinent departmental/park district meetings and in-house training sessions.
* Conduct self-according to the policies and procedures established by the park district.
* Participate in park district Safety and Training Program to ensure that work performed and services provided are implemented in a safe manner.
Qualifications Education: * Junior in High School or above.
* High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Experience: * Teaching swim lessons preferred.
* Working with children or adults with disabilities preferred.
Knowledge: * Lifeguard and/or Water Safety Instructor desirable.
* Bi-lingual Spanish preferred.
* Swim lesson plan development/execution.
License / Certification: * Lifeguard and/or Water Safety Instructor certification required.
* First Aid/CPR/AED certification required within one (1) year.
