Minimum Qualifications: * NYSED Certification as a Level I Teaching Assistant (Must obtain Level III within 4 years of appointment.
Recommendations for extension of Level I will only be made if all requirements for Level II have been met except the required work experience). * Completion of required state workshops, IE.
Child Abuse Detection & Reporting, School Violence Prevention, and DASA.
Primary Activities * Work with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects.
* Provide the teacher with information about students which will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning and behavioral experiences.
* Assist students in the use of available instructional resources, and assist in the development of instructional materials.
* Utilize own special skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in such areas as: foreign languages, arts, crafts, music and similar subjects.
* Assist in related instructional work as required.
* Assist students with specific health related activities as appropriate.
* Maintains instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/records (e.g.
lessons, attendance, pencils, paper, teaching supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items, providing written reports, or meeting mandated requirements.
* Performs general clerical tasks for the purpose of helping the teacher get instructional materials ready.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
