Position Title: Academic Program Specialist Job Category: Academic Staff Employment Type: Regular Job Profile: Academic Program Specialist Job Duties: The University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF) is seeking an Academic Program Specialist to contribute to the implementation, administration, coordination, and evaluation of the newly relaunched Master of Science in Computer Science program to ensure effectiveness in meeting departmental and student development goals and initiatives.
The position will also provide recruitment support for other select programs that attract post-baccalaureate and non-traditional students.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Academic Program Administration * Monitors and assists with the development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation for one or more academic programs, initiatives, or events * Aids the department chair in coordinating program components and evaluating program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement (program assessment) * Aids the department chair in identifying program needs and contributing to the development of unit workflows for the assigned programs * Aids the department chair with day-to-day activities of the assigned academic programs and helps to resolve issues exercising discretion to meet unit goals * Coordinates internships experiences for assigned academic programs in collaboration with the University Business Collaboration Center (UBCC) * Builds relationships with business partners and alumni Student Recruitment * Recruits students to assigned graduate and undergraduate programs * Coordinates with Admissions and other relevant departments * Conducts information sessions (in-person and online) for prospective students * Responds to prospective student emails, calls, and other inquiries * Meets with prospective students * Provides recommendations for improvement of recruitment efforts * Other duties as assigned by the supervisor Key Job Responsibilities: * Utilizes independent judgement regarding development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation for one or more academic programs, initiatives, or events * May supervise the day to day activities of one or more academic programs and resolves issues exercising discretion to meet unit goals.
* Coordinates program components and evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement * Identifies program, needs, contributes to the development of unit workflows, schedules logistics and secures resources for meetings, events, and interviews Department: College of Arts and Sciences - Computer, Information and Data Sciences Required Qualifications: * Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team * Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively facilitate interpersonal communication and group presentations with students, faculty, academic staff, and university staff * Demonstrated attention to detail and good organizational skills * Willingness to learn new technology and digital platforms Preferred Qualifications: * 1-3 years of experience in academic program support * Experience leading and/or implementing process improvement initiatives * Demonstrated experience in supporting the needs of post-baccalaureate and/or non-traditional students * Experience working with digital student records platforms * Experience promoting, recruiting and/or advising in a post-secondary environment * Demonstrated willingness to learn practical aspects of using artificial intelligence platforms Education: * Required: Bachelor's degree in technology, business, education or related field * Preferred: Master's degree in technology, business, education or related field How to Apply: Applicants are required to apply online.
