Description
Responsible for the delivery of child development service as a primary caregiver to children in an EHS setting, in either a lead or assisting role. This position may require home visits, which may be in homes with animals or other allergens.
Responsibilities:
• Obtain and maintain program required qualifications and credentials (AA, CDA, CPR, First Aid, etc).
• Incorporates a variety of experiences in the classroom to individualize and foster the children's emotional, cognitive, language, physical, and self-help skill development. This includes appropriate and varied materials and techniques.
• Encourages and participates in best practices around family driven care and family engagement.
• Participates in professional development opportunities.
• Provides coverage, as assigned, to ensure the smooth operation of the program.
• Must follow safety and health practices in the daily operation of duties to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Must be capable at all times of assisting occupants in the orderly evacuation of the site, by both primary and secondary means. This may include the passing of a child, up to 40lbs. in weight, out through a window and/or the carrying of a child downstairs.
• Creates and assists in a well-organized learning environment for children that conveys a welcoming, trusting, and safe classroom to maximize developing appropriate experiences.
• Understands and incorporates the principles of program-selected curricula.
• Assists in identifying and setting objectives for development and learning.
• Follows Head Start Performance Standards, NYS licensing requirements, and agency policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates effective classroom management, including responsibility for supervision of all children.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
Associate's degree with infant Toddler CDA preferred.
CDA required within 2 years of hire.
Experience with the population preferred.
Salary Description
$31,376-$32,960/year
