Options Teacher at JMHS * Develop an instructional plan designed to meet district objectives for gifted education.
* Prepare lesson plans designed to meet program goals and to meet unique interests and aptitudes of each student.
* Provide learning experiences, activities, and discussions to provide for individual student development.
* Design and implement a method of evaluating individual student performance and achievement.
* Provide a stimulating and conducive learning environment.
* Design and organize materials needed to implement instructional plans.
* Assist in the identification and selection of gifted students.
* Schedule gifted resources classes-coordinating pull out times with the regular classroom teacher.
* Consult with classroom teacher to monitor the performance of gifted students in regular classes and serve as a resource person for assisting regular teachers in challenging and motivating gifted students.
* Provide for parent communication concerning program goals and the performance/achievement of their child in meeting these goals.
(i.e.
parent workshops, individual conferences, progress reports). * Schedule and conduct conferences between gifted teacher/classroom teacher/parent, for those students maintaining expected performance in regular classroom and /or resource program.
* Available for periodic meetings with Special Education Director.
* Provides for continued professional growth through on-going reading in the field of Gifted Education and through attendance at workshops and conferences.
* Conduct IEP meetings and monitor student progress toward content standards or IEP's * Instruct students in the Option Pathway and prepare them to pass the five HSEA content areas of Language Arts Writing, Math, Science and Social Studies, and Language Arts Reading.
* Administer and score the TABE test to help identify Option Pathway students.
* Work with and communicate with Career Tech program teachers.
* Administer and score HSEA Readiness Assessment for Option students.
* Maintain accurate student records and submit required reports on time.
* Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the principal or Special Education Director.
Qualifications: * WV Teaching Certificate for Grades K-12 Gifted, Grades 9-12 Effective Date: * Immediately upon hire Salary: Base Salary $43,815 with a Bachelor's Degree.
Pursuant to WV Code § 18A-4-2, in accordance with Monroe County Teacher Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education level, plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
