Position Title: HVAC Technician Location: Denver, CO Clearance Requirements: No Position Status: Contract to Hire Pay Rate: $37/hr on W2 range Position Description: We are looking for a skilled HVAC Technician to provide expert commercial HVAC and general maintenance services across Lakewood, CO.
This role requires traveling to various customer sites using a company vehicle and tools to efficiently maintain commercial properties.
You will perform preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance on HVAC systems, troubleshoot equipment issues, and conduct tests to ensure optimal functionality.
Additionally, you'll apply a diverse set of trade skills including minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and roofing to resolve maintenance challenges effectively.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build lasting relationships with customers, vendors, and team members are critical.
This position includes participation in an on-call rotation to provide timely emergency support.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct thorough preventative maintenance and repairs on commercial HVAC systems (package and split units) including belts, pulleys, compressors, condensate drains, burners, heat exchangers, and safety controls.
Troubleshoot and repair steam/hot water boilers, airflow, and ducting issues.
Safely handle refrigerants following EPA regulations.
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical system failures on HVAC equipment, including circuit boards, contactors, leaks, and brazing copper components.
Perform minor plumbing repairs such as unclogging drains, fixing leaks, and replacing fixtures.
Complete routine carpentry and painting to keep facilities in like-new condition.
Perform minor electrical maintenance within state licensing requirements (fixture replacements, switches, outlets, bulbs). Complete service and asset inspections with accurate documentation.
Use mobile technology (tablet, smartphone) to manage work orders, submit reports, and track time and expenses.
Build and maintain positive client relationships, ensuring consistent communication.
Attend all required safety and compliance training in line with OSHA standards.
Provide estimates for larger maintenance projects when requested.
Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours support as needed.
Required Skills/Education: High school diploma or equivalent; HVAC technical certification or state HVAC license preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC and general maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry within commercial or industrial settings.
Valid EPA Universal Refrigeration License required.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Proven experience working with commercial/industrial HVAC systems.
Proficiency using mobile devices and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel). Strong communication skills with the ability to interpret technical manuals, safety protocols, and procedures.
