Position Information Posting Number 2010-0491 Position Title Dean, Business & Technologies Open Date 06/24/2025 Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Full or Part Time Full Time Permanent or Temporary Permanent Job Summary POSITION SUMMARY With direction from the Vice President for Academic Affairs & Workforce Development (Chief Academic Officer), the Dean is primarily responsible for the academic and administrative leadership of the Business & Technologies division.

While subject to changes, the Business & Technologies division currently includes programs related to business, computer technology, engineering technology, industrial technology, and the skilled trades.

The role requires strategic planning and continuous improvement that drives quality curriculum and continuing education courses and programs, a student-centered learning environment, supervision of faculty and staff, budget and resource management, student success and recruitment, community engagement, and ongoing professional development.

The Dean is expected to collaborate effectively with team members from across the College as well as with external partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES Strategic Leadership * Foster a high-performing, student-centered learning and work environment that drives the College's mission to "unite with all people in our community to identify and achieve their goals through an innovative, high quality educational experience." * Encourage curriculum design and delivery that features technology and innovation, work-based learning, and-when appropriate-interdisciplinary instruction to meet our service area's needs.

* Employ a collaborative leadership style that encourages teamwork with the senior leaders, peer deans, reports, and other college stakeholders.

Program Oversight * Use workforce data to propose new or revised courses and programs or closure of programs that are no longer viable.

* Maintain knowledge of state and local curriculum standards for the division's programs.

* Partner with businesses, industries, and other educational institutions to ensure programs establish and meet learning outcomes necessary for students to progress in their educational and career goals.

* Ensure that program faculty hold advisory committee meetings to learn about local stakeholder needs.

* Oversee academic processes such as course scheduling, faculty assignments, course and program development, instructional delivery, textbook selection, classroom management, academic integrity, and program review.

* Monitor headcount and full-time enrollment (FTE) by instructor, course, and program.

* Confirm that programs comply with federal and state law and any accrediting standards.

Faculty and Staff Supervision * Directly supervise assistant deans and department heads and indirectly supervise program coordinators, full-time instructors, and adjunct faculty members.

* Be a liaison between senior administration and division members.

* Recruit, mentor, and evaluate employees within the Business & Technologies division.

* Review and approve instructional workload and contracts for faculty.

* Ensure all faculty members in the division hold the appropriate credentials, training, skills, and/or licenses to meet requirements of accreditation and college guidelines.

* Establish expectations for employee performance and facilitate performance appraisals according to college policies and procedures.

* Identify opportunities for professional development and recommend options to enhance faculty and staff skills to meet divisional and college goals.

* Coordinate substitute instructors and/or activities for courses in the absence of faculty.

Budget and Resource Management * Manage the division's budget and resources effectively.

* Assist team members to evaluate divisional/departmental needs, develop appropriate budgets, and request personnel, equipment, supplies, facilities, and other resources.

* Confer with division faculty to maintain learning spaces and equipment for effective instructional delivery.

* Collaborate with senior administrators and foundation staff to request and manage grants that support division activities.

Student Success and Recruitment * Coordinate student recruitment for divisional programs and support collegewide efforts.

* Develop tactics to educate prospective and current students about available programs, pathways, and career outcomes.

* Advise students and prospective students as they make college and career choices.

* Use data to inform decisions about enhancing student recruitment, learning, and success across all programs.

* Support student participation in learning experiences such as work-based learning and skills competitions.

College and Community Engagement * Foster positive relations with external stakeholders, including industry and education partners, grant-making organizations, donors, and alumni.

* Serve on College and external committees as requested.

* Support institutional accreditation activities by collecting evidence, reviewing reports, writing standards, and performing other related tasks.

Professional Development and Training * Maintain knowledge of higher education leadership topics and hone leadership skills through continual study, research, or professional development opportunities.

* Remain informed about topics relating to the operation of the College.

* Engage with discipline-specific professional organizations and program accreditors.

Additional Duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications * Master's degree from an accredited college or university * Five years of teaching experience * Demonstrated ability as an administrator Preferred Qualifications * Master's degree in discipline taught in Business & Technologies division * Experience teaching in a college or university setting Special Instructions
