Hiring Range: $57,733 - $82,042 Full Time or Part Time: FULL TIME Additional Detail JOB DESCRIPTION This hybrid position serves approximately 50% as a Petroleum Tank Compliance Inspector and 50% as a Petroleum Remediation Geologist.
The Tank Compliance Inspector portion of the position provides technical and administrative advice and oversight to Inspection positions and assists the Environmental Manager on program issues; manages multiple complex projects to resolve compliance issues through technical, administrative, and enforcement oversight; performs facility inspections to evaluate the design and operation of petroleum storage tank systems; documents findings and works with owners/operators to remedy non-compliant conditions; and assists tank owners/operators in complying with State laws and regulations governing storage tanks to promote improved environmental performance and reduce threats to human health and the environment from petroleum releases.
The Remediation Geologist portion of the position independently manages the remediation of varied, complex petroleum contaminated sites through technical and administrative oversight to ensure that the sites are remediated to appropriate risk based levels and works with responsible parties to resolve issues efficiently, openly, fairly, and consistently in accordance with State laws and regulations and program guidance regarding petroleum releases.
This position requires an advanced knowledge of federal/state/local laws and regulation governing petroleum storage, UST/AST design technology, corrosion protection systems, leak detection methods, engineering practices, natural and environmental science, geology, hydrogeology, chemistry, (aquatic) biology, ecology, ground water/leaking UST remediation, groundwater pollution assessment, Federal, State and Local environmental laws and regulations, and project management.
This position requires skills in interpersonal communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, situational awareness/safety, oral and written communication, technical report writing, conveying technical information to non-technical audiences, database and file management, word processing, pc operations, and geographical/geospatial information system management.
This position requires the ability to prioritize, plan, and organize workload, multi-task, assess environmental impacts, prepare and present technical reports, make independent and sound decisions, and work without close supervision.
RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities are to assist tank owner/operators in complying with State laws and regulations governing storage tanks to promote improved environmental performance and reduce threats to human health and the environment from petroleum releases.
QUALIFICATIONS * Knowledge of federal/state/local laws and regulations governing petroleum storage, UST/AST design technology, corrosion protection systems, leak detection methods, environmental science and engineering practices, chemistry, and basic hydrogeology.
* Knowledge in project management * Personal computer operations skills (including word processing, spreadsheets, and database management). * Ability to communicate and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
* Coursework or equivalent work experience in environmental sciences.
Work experience demonstrating excellent work ethic and independent work skills.
* Real ID or passport may be required to inspect some facilities.
* This position may require you to operate a state owned or leased vehicle.
