Business Title Graduate Assistant for Bus Ops Special Instructions to Applicants Questions regarding the above position should be directed to: Posting Number 20161657STD Department Summary The Graduate Assistant for Business Operations reports to the Assistant Director for Assignments, Contracts, and Student Services.

The preferred candidate will have some Housing/Residence Life (HRL) experience and must be enrolled in the College Student Personnel or related graduate program.

Specific responsibilities include: Student Staff Training and Development * Assist with application review, interviewing, and selection of student staff that provides front line service for business operations.

* Supervise second floor business operations student staff.

* Perform evaluations and manage a staff of 7-12 student service ambassadors.

* Actively participate in the planning and implementation of student staff training and development.

* Evaluate, recommend, and develop improvements for the staff training processes.

* Create official training documents and guides.

Second Year and Upper-class Student Room Selection Processes * Provide front line customer service to students who are selecting in the room selection processes.

* Facilitate the Returning Student Open House and the Meet Your Match room selection events.

* Develop and facilitate the information sessions about the room selection processes.

* Facilitate special selection processes for incoming and current students.

First Year Room Selection Process (FYRS) * Staff and attend essential Undergraduate Admissions Events to promote business processes (Welcome Events and Resource Fairs) as well as attend some out of state Admitted Reception events.

* Provide front line customer service to students who are selecting during FYRS.

* Assist in the room selection process for special groups and residential learning communities.

Operational Process Management * Oversee records management processes that include, but are not limited to, reviewing departmental email account, vacancy reports, contract audits, and Vaccination Information Forms.

* Ongoing room assignment processes including, but not limited to, room changes, fall early arrivals assignments, and spring assignments during winter break period.

* Facilitate the Mutual Room Swap process over the summer period.

* Manage and assign the members of the LGBT+ floor section and the Transfer Living Community.

Admissions Resource Fair Support * Provide staffing, scheduling, and support for Resource Fairs for Undergraduate Admissions.

* Tabulate materials needed for each event.

* Facilitate the materials needed for the resource fair with other members of the Business Operations office.

* Attend weekly supervision and weekly staff meetings.

* Serve in the on-call weekly duty rotation for operational support to Residence Life and Dean of Students on-call staff.

* Collaborate with Housing Ambassador GA and Business Operations Team.

* Maintain divisional expectations of ongoing inclusion and social justice development.

* Other duties as assigned, including some night and weekend time commitments.

This graduate assistantship position offers a paid stipend.

However, it does not guarantee a tuition waiver.

Job Profile Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: Engages with students and contributes to the growth and development of various aspects of the Ohio University experience, including student engagement, student leadership, student conduct, well-being and recreation, academic success, and campus life.

Responsibilities may include supporting student government, developing student fitness and recreation programs, coordinating student events, providing student academic support, and providing administrative support to departments across the University.

Level Summary Provides specialized assistance in academic or administrative tasks, leveraging advanced knowledge in a particular subject area.

Supports faculty, researchers, or departments in a variety of ways.

Supervisory Responsibilities: May supervise undergraduate students.

Fiscal Responsibilities: May assist in managing small budgets for research projects or departmental activities.

Problem Solving: Handles complex, field-specific problems that require critical thinking and independent analysis.

May require guidance for highly specialized or unfamiliar tasks, but able to handle day-to-day challenges independently.

Independence of Action: Works independently on assigned tasks but may consult with faculty or staff for major decisions.

Communication and Collaboration: Regular communication with faculty, supervisors, and peers.

Collaborates with academic and administrative peers, faculty, and staff and participates in meetings or discussions to further research or projects.

May interact with students, colleagues, or clients in academic settings.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree required.

Must be a graduate student currently enrolled in an Ohio University academic program.

Must have strong research, writing, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications The candidate should have some Housing/Residence Life (HRL) experience (preferred but not required). Candidate should have strong administrative capabilities, a passion for working with students, and staff.

Candidates should also be committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Candidate must be enrolled in the College Student Personnel or related graduate program.

Working Condition/Physical Demands: This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers.

Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.

Department Housing Pay Rate $15,300 (plus housing, meal allotment, parking) This graduate assistantship position offers a paid stipend.

However, it does not guarantee a tuition waiver.

FLSA Status Non-Exempt Posting Open Date 10/01/2025 Posting End Date 04/01/2026 Job Category Student Hourly Planning Unit Vice President for Student Affairs Work Schedule Graduate Assistants are expected to work a total of 300 hours over the course of the semester.

This time period will begin two weeks prior to the start of the semester and conclude at the end of the semester.

This averages out to approximately 20 hours per week.
