General Statement The Computer Information System faculty member will be responsible for teaching, curriculum development, student assessment, student advisement, and related college service activities within the Associate in Science degrees and certificates in Computer Information Systems program.
The full-time workload for this position may require day, late afternoon, evening or weekend hours and may take place in Worcester, Southbridge, or any another QCC satellite location.
Supervision Received: Reports directly to the Dean of the School of Business, Computing and Applied Technologies.
Supervision Exercised: The full-time faculty member exercises supervision over any personnel assigned to him/her.
Duties and Responsibilities: * Provide classroom, laboratory and/or team teaching instruction and facilitate individualized and non-traditional approaches to learning as appropriate.
* Develop and/or revise instructional materials with other faculty members.
* Develop and apply instructional methods that engage students of varying learning styles and abilities.
* Develop and apply assessment strategies that maximize the learning process and measure student learning outcomes.
* Actively participate in ongoing curriculum & program review.
* Conduct academic advising and assistance of students.
* Participate in college service activities in concert with the provisions of the MCCC Agreement.
* Assess the effectiveness of CIS courses and the CIS curriculum in concert with other full-time or adjunct faculty members within the area.
* Work closely with other full-time or adjunct faculty members within the area and with Network Services to specify necessary hardware and software requirements for DB-related courses.
* Develop and maintain related business/industry partnerships.
* Actively participate in the CIS program advisory committee in concert with industry representatives and other full-time or adjunct faculty members within the area.
* Work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues to recruit and retain students and assist in community and industry outreach as appropriate.
* Travel as necessary among employer sites and other off-campus locations as required supervising students in cooperative education placements or internships.
* Actively supporting the teaching and learning process; practicing honesty and integrity in and out of the classroom; striving to create and support a student-centered environment while fostering academic innovation and excellence.
* Working actively with other areas of the college to ensure a spirit of college wide collaboration, collegiality, civility, and teamwork.

Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree, plus equivalent industry experience in database design and administration, business, or related discipline.
* Experience in teaching or training of adult students.
* Professional experience in database design and administration with demonstrated proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL programming.
Preferred Qualifications: * Master's Degree in Technology, Business, Education, or a related discipline.
* Two years of successful college teaching, preferably in a community or technical college setting.
* Documented examples of curriculum / course development and assessment.
* Demonstrated track record in innovative, non-traditional modes of instruction and instructional delivery, including team teaching across disciplines, on-line learning and Service learning.
* Well-articulated understanding of the role of community colleges, their students and philosophy.
* Evidence of understanding of and appreciation for diversity and multiculturalism.
* Integration of computer technology into instruction.
* Predisposition to working in a dynamic environment requiring flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork.
* Strong evidence of passionate commitment to striving for excellence in working with students, faculty, and staff and in responding to opportunities that extend the Mission of the College.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Documented experience with curriculum development and evaluation with demonstrated ability to integrate real-life applications into the classroom.

Minimum starting salary for candidate is $75,232.00.
