The Anatomic Pathology Associate is responsible for the daily workload performed by the Anatomic Pathology section at the Trinity Rock Island campus ensuring the quality and quantity of the final Anatomic Pathology product. The incumbent provides technical assistance to cytology technologists, pathology assistant and pathologists; this includes but is not limited to frozen sections and onsite procedure assistance at Rock Island, Moline and Bettendorf Trinity sites.

Technical
Receives, reviews, accessions and prepares samples for analysis and cytological exam
Ensures that each specimen/specimen type is appropriately identified, utilizes all patient identification safety barriers.
Follows QA guidelines for specimen handling, identification and processing
Operates, maintains, troubleshoots all equipment utilized with in the Anatomic Pathology department
Follows procedures appropriate to specimen and requested testing, handles pre-analytic specimens for pathology in a timely and precise manner.
Enters specimens into laboratory computer systems. Edits/prints reports from laboratory computer systems.
Assists providers with specimen handling and processing for Frozen sections at all three Trinity Campuses to ensure adequate specimen and specimen integrity
Assists with Specimen collection and handling during Ultrasound guided procedures and Fine Needle Aspirates
Departmental Support
Documents routine instrument maintenance
Troubleshoots and resolves instrument and equipment issues
Maintains and orders supplies/reagents for analyzers and related testing equipment
Assists the Pathology leadership with inspection readiness.
Transcription duties as assigned.
Processes specimens for testing and/or transport to testing laboratory.
Assists with the daily maintenance and department specific cleaning activities to ensure workstations are maintained in a safe, sanitary condition and ready for specimen processing
High School Diploma or GED required
