Partnership Douglas County Job Description - GRANT FUNDED Job Title: Prevention Specialist (Para Educator) Hourly Compensation: Depending upon experience & degree.
Up to 5 years of similar experience accepted.
Qualifications: * High School Diploma minimum, Bachelor's in related field preferred * Must be at least 21 years or older * Experience facilitating youth groups grades 6-12 * Current Douglas County resident * Holds current Certified Prevention Specialist Certification through the Nevada Certification Board ( or able to hold certification within 3 months of hire) * Computer and Internet literate with working knowledge of Microsoft excel, word, power point, and publisher * Working knowledge of social media platforms * Ability to demonstrate skills in: problem solving, coordination of activities and events, verbal and written communication with parents, business owners, community leaders, governmental entities, etc.
* Excel in multiple task work with deadlines * Bi-lingual Preferred * Knowledge of the community and available resources preferred Status: 7 hrs per day / 200 days per year.

Description: The Certified Prevention Specialist will carry duties outlined below and will report to the Partnership Douglas County Executive Director.
Duties: * Plan/Implement/Facilitate Empower YOUth groups at the high school(s) using Evidence Based Curriculum * Develop and implement prevention programs tailored to specific community needs * Work with the Executive Director and Partnership team to complete grant scopes of work in the areas of substance abuse prevention, community support to schools, and other programs as identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment/Improvement Plan.
* Participate in Partnership activities and events as a member of the team.
* Collect and analyze data to identify trends and measure program outcomes * Collect, complete and submit all necessary evaluative reports to the appropriate entities in a timely manner.
* Complete 40 hours of continuing education earned every two years, including 3 hours of training in ethics related to the field of prevention and 3 hours of cultural competency If offered employment: 1) applicant must be bondable, 2) provide evidence of clean driving record and 3) submit to fingerprinting and background check.
