Summary High Point University is currently seeking a full-time Senior Director of Community Standards.

This position provides leadership and strategic direction for the following departments: Community Standards.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education * Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.

Experience and Training * 4-6 years progressively responsible, full-time experience in student conduct administration, including past experience as a student conduct officer and/or higher education experience and/or Student Services administration * Demonstrated increasingly responsible student life or student services experience, including demonstrated experience with supervision, program development and implementation * Student conduct experience, including demonstrated experience with program development and implementation * Demonstrated knowledge of Title IX response and compliance * Knowledge of applicable legal issues and best practices related to higher education, student conduct & conflict resolution * Experience with college or university residential communities preferred or higher educational academic support services * Proficiency in Maxient Conduct Manager software is preferred * Candidates with other backgrounds that demonstrate comprehensive leadership experience will be considered Knowledge, Skills, Ability: * Excellent written and oral communications skills * Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state laws and/or residential life disciplinary standards and procedures * Ability to converse diplomatically with students and parents regarding sensitive matters involving judicial sanctions and penalties * Knowledge of and ability to use crisis intervention skills * Knowledge of and ability to respond to students and parents regarding Student Guide to Campus Life policies and standards ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Works with the Director of Title IX and assures university compliance regarding educational opportunities for the university community * Facilitate all threat assessment functionality (e.g., meetings, interviews, investigations) * Develops, implements, and monitors appropriate sanctions in conjunction with residential life, Title IX, counseling and wellness, student clubs and organizations, campus recreation, athletics, and other campus partners * Assists with the development of prevention education programs and outreach efforts encouraging appropriate behavior as well as through enforcement of programs that respond to violations of behavioral standards * Consults with legal counsel and the Director of Compliance/Title IX Coordinator as appropriate * Assists with the development and training of investigators, hearing officers, and other participants in HPU grievance processes * Administers the judicial and conduct system, including review of incident reports and security reports * Conducts investigations of reported non-academic and academic student violations, including interviewing relevant parties and gathering incident reports and other evidence * Conducts formal non-academic and academic hearings and meetings, determines and issues appropriate sanctions in conjunction with the student judicial board * Provides direct supervision for all non-academic and academic disciplinary matters occurring within all university residential communities; serves as the staff liaison for Student Judicial Board proceedings * Responsible for budgetary compliance for functional areas * Assures annual assessments are completed by all direct reports * Provides counseling for students, particularly residential students, related to disciplinary issues; provides referrals to appropriate university departments, such as Counseling, Health Services, Academic Services, Academic Advisors and relevant others * Responds to requests and questions regarding judicial processes for students and parents and others, as appropriate * Coordinates the University's parental notification program for students who have been found in violation of the University's policies regarding alcohol and other substances * Researches, designs, and implements training sessions and presentations and serves as resource and advisor on an ongoing basis with regard to appropriate disciplinary policies and procedures * Provides guidance on revisions to "Student Guide to Campus Life" and other communications pertaining to University disciplinary policies and procedures * Prepares applicable reports for University departments, such as the Office of Security and Office of Student Life regarding judicial proceedings and sanctions * Serves as a student interventionist when Starfish and Care alerts are raised by faculty, staff, parents and/or fellow peers * Compiles, analyzes and manages judicial statistics via incident tracking system * Conducts and evaluates daily reviews of all residential students with multiple discipline violations and makes appropriate referrals to Assistant VP of Student Services * Oversees Community Standards departmental needs relating to staff support and provides support supervision as needed * Assists with large campus events like Orientation, Welcome Week, Honors Day, Homecoming, Concerts, and other major events; assures successful implementation oversight with regards to Welcome Week move in experience for incoming students * Other duties as assigned ACCOUNTABILITY: * Responsibility to determine fines and punishments (up to and including dismissal from the University) for academic and non-academic violations in coordination with Hearing Boards and the university Executive Council For more information regarding this position, please contact Dr.
