School Counselor

Duties Major Responsibilities: * Responsive Services * Indirect Services * Individual Student Planning/Development * Curriculum * General Responsibilities Major Responsibility 1: Responsive Services Key Duties: * Individual counseling * Small group counseling * Crisis response services Major Responsibility 2: Indirect Services Key Duties: * Make referrals to outside services * Consult with parent, teachers, and administrators to share effective strategies that support students * Collaborate with parents, professionals, and community member to support student success Major Responsibility 3: Individual Student Planning/Development Key Duties: * Help students develop coping skills and strategies at school * Help students develop personal goals and plans * Assist teachers and administration using restorative practices and approaches when needed Major Responsibility 4: Curriculum Key Duties: * Deliver required lessons/presentations as determined by the State of Illinois * Collaborate with SEL teacher to evaluate, develop, and deliver lessons based on student social and emotional needs Major Responsibility 5: General Responsibilities Key Duties: * Maintain accurate records * Exercise professional discretion in keeping personal information of students as confidential as possible under state law * Maintain an open-door policy for all students, parents, teachers, and administrators * Attend professional meetings for student referrals or parent conferences if needed * Be a collaborative team member, share in the responsibilities of supervision, planning, and professional growth and development.
