LIU provides several areas of instruction, including ESL speaking / reading and writing, as well as ABE reading, writing, and arithmetic.
LIU also provides computer training and workforce development programs and works with volunteers to set up placement in their area(s) of interest.
Volunteers are not required to be certified teachers and are not required to be bilingual.
The most important qualifications for effective volunteers are dependability, empathy, and commitment to helping our students meet their goals.
Currently seeking: tutors (bachelor's degree required), tutor assistants, administrative volunteers, and fundraising volunteers.
