Special Ed Adapted Curriculum

The Jefferson County School System is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Teacher in a self-contained Special Education classroom.

This position is located at Jefferson County Middle School.

After emailing a letter of interest referencing "SpEd Self Contained" in the subject line to, all applicants must apply through Teach Georgia.

Generally, this class contains a mix of students identified with Moderate, Severe, and Profound Intellectual disabilities whose IEPs have determined self-contained model to be the LRE.

This teacher must assume the professional responsibility for providing specialized learning experiences (based on IEPs) and supervision of students with disabilities in a supportive and positive classroom climate utilizing the Access Curriculum.

Strong communication skills are needed to maintain the expected positive professional relationships with the assigned paraprofessional, building administrators, fellow teachers and parents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Certification/License Required: Special Education Adapted Curriculum (P-12) [FLD805] AND the four (4) Special Education Academic Content areas (P-8) of Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Science Educational Level: Bachelor's degree (or higher) Proven ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and deal tactfully and courteously with others Excellent human relations and written and oral communication skills The Jefferson County School System reserves the right to accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
