Drive finished product, inspect load in trailer, verify count, operate semi-truck.
Primary Duties
Frequently sitting for extended periods of time
Safely and efficiently operate a tractor-trailer to deliver finished products to customers
Load or assist in loading finished product in trailer
Unload or assist in unloading finished product from trailer with a forklift, hand truck, or by hand
Inspect load in trailer to ensure it is properly loaded and it is the correct load before leaving
Verify count while truck is being unloaded, as allowed by customers
Operate semi-truck with trailer according to state laws
Transport load by required route to proper destination while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations
Chock rear wheels of truck or trailer before loading or unloading takes place
Remove chocks before driving away from loading/unloading destination
Obtain shipping bill of lading and necessary signatures and return completed paperwork to shipping office
Complete daily timecard, driver logs, and all other work reports accurately and in a timely manner
Remove empty pallets from trailer and place in proper storage location
Perform daily services such as - checking the oil level, water level, fuel, and air in tires
Report any maintenance items to supervision immediately
Assist in keeping the shipping warehouse and outside dock area clean and organized.
Clean assigned vehicle daily
Accurately maintain required driver's logs and other appropriate
Department of Transportation paperwork
Use proper lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending techniques.
Perform each task in a manner which prevents bodily injury, equipment, and product damage
Observe all safety and health guidelines
Other duties may be assigned by supervision
Learn relevant local and company requirements, rules and procedures. Strictly follows rules and guidelines and always uses the right procedure for the job. Promptly reports incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions or processes. SWR employees regardless of level, position or tenure are responsible for upholding the safety standards regulations and policies.
Must be able to work any shift, weekends and overtime
Job Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Speak, read, and comprehend English
Write legibly in English
Good physical condition, i.e. able to lift 25-50# on a consistent basis
Must have a valid CDL license for the state applied
Must meet Department of Transportation physical and medical requirements
Must pass substance abuse screening according to company policy
Requires a high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of a tractor-trailer and in the prevention of damage to materials and equipment
