Position Title: Soccer Coach
Reports To: Building Principal/Athletic Director
Location: Southfield A&T High School
Start Date/End Date: August 2025-October 2025 (2025-2026 School Year - FALL ATHLETICS)
Salary: $4,200.00 Stipend per the SEA CBA (paid at the end of the season based on the payment calendar)
Job Summary:
The Soccer Coach is responsible for leading, developing, and managing the soccer program while fostering a positive and competitive environment. This includes planning practices, coaching games, mentoring student-athletes, and promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork. The coach will work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and athletic department leadership to ensure the program's success on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and run effective soccer practices and training sessions.
Teach fundamental and advanced soccer techniques, strategies, and game rules.
Prepare the team for competitions and manage all aspects of game-day coaching.
Promote academic success, character development, and personal growth among players.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes during practices, games, and travel.
Maintain equipment inventory and ensure proper use and storage.
Coordinate schedules with the athletic department and manage logistics for practices and games.
Communicate regularly with athletes, parents, and school administration.
Promote a culture of sportsmanship, discipline, accountability, and respect.
Attend league meetings, professional development opportunities, and obtain required certifications.
Follow and enforce all school, district, and athletic department policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Prior coaching experience in soccer at the high school level, club level or higher.
Complete understanding of the game, including rules, strategies, and player development.
Ability to demonstrate skills and drills.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work with diverse groups of student-athletes and staff.
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
