Position Type: Athletics/Activities/Coaching Date Posted: 9/4/2025 Location: Berkley High School District: Berkley School District Additional Information: Show/Hide POSITION OPEN: HEAD VARSITY WRESTLING COACH LOCATION: Berkley High School 2024-25 Winter Season COMPENSATION: PAID THROUGH EDUSTAFF * Reports to: Athletic Director * Employment Type: Seasonal (Winter Sports Season) * Stipend Position per Berkley Schools Extra Duty Pay Schedule RESPONSIBILITIES: * Plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of the high school wrestling program.
* Teach fundamental wrestling skills, techniques, and strategies at a high level of competition.
* Build and maintain a positive culture focused on sportsmanship, teamwork, and student development.
* Supervise and mentor assistant coaches, ensuring consistency in program philosophy and execution.
* Coordinate practices, conditioning, and competition schedules.
* Oversee wrestler eligibility, academic progress, and adherence to school and MHSAA policies.
* Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, school staff, and the broader Berkley wrestling community.
* Promote participation and growth of the wrestling program at all levels (youth, middle school, and high school). QUALIFICATIONS: * Previous high school or collegiate wrestling coaching experience required (head coaching preferred). * Strong knowledge of wrestling rules, techniques, and MHSAA regulations.
* Ability to model and teach leadership, discipline, and resilience.
* Excellent organizational and communication skills.
* Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in athletics.
* CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). * Employment is contingent on passing all district-required background checks.
