Job Summary
A manufacturing company specializing in steel production in Houston, TX, is seeking a skilled Crane Operator to join their team. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a focus on safety and efficiency.
Job Description
Operate overhead cranes. 5 to 25 tons w/ magnets, chains with dual/single trolleys
Maintain an accurate understanding of material inventory and storage locations
Operate cranes safely to retrieve and organize steel and other materials
Review production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine material needs, stock availability, and task priorities
Deliver materials to designated production areas as required
Keep perpetual inventory log of materials received, stocked and distributed
Expedite material transfers from storage to production areas to support workflow
Inspect incoming materials, verifying part numbers, and noting any issues like damage or mislabeling
Cross-check work tickets against materials used at workstations to ensure correct allocation
Record specifications on receiver sheets and mark materials with necessary details
Perform additional duties as assigned by manager

Skills Required
2+ years of experience with overhead cranes in similar setting
2+ years of experience in a steel warehouse or manufacturing setting
Speak, read, and write English
Education/Training/Certifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
Additional Requirements
Work Environment
Regular exposure to moving machinery and occassionally to outdoor weather conditions
Work areas can be noisy, requiring appropriate safety measures
Stand for long periods of time. Able to utilize a computer or tablet for pick updating
Physical Requirements:
Must meet physical demands to perform job duties, including operating machinery and working in industrial setting
Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision

Shift Hours: 1st Shift, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Pay Rate/Salary
$18.00/hr.
