Job Summary Enterprise Network Engineers, reporting to the Enterprise Network Manager, have a range of responsibilities based on experience and skill levels, with performance expectations identified within one of three position levels (1, 2, 3). Enterprise Network Engineers iteratively research, design, deploy, administer, monitor, and collaboratively support the Franklin County Data Network (FCDN) -- a complex multi-site network of wired and wireless local and campus networks, public telecom circuits, private WAN and SD-WAN services, and all the switching, routing, and gateway devices required to keep FCDC clients in contact with data and applications anytime, anywhere.

Enterprise Network Engineers manage network components including copper and fiber cabling assets (in cooperation with Public Facilities Management), switches, routers, TCP/IP subnetting and addressing, VLANs, firewalls, Wi-Fi equipment, monitoring and alerting systems, management software, load balancers, Internet and private telecom circuits, and anything else focused on keeping users and applications in reach of one another.

To be successful, Enterprise Network Engineers must coordinate with FCDC Partner Experience Managers (PXMs), client contacts, and peer engineering teams to successfully complete projects for new installations, upgrades, and feature updates, as well as resolve problems that appear unexpectedly or develop over time.

Employees new to FCDC or promoted into new positions must successfully complete a 180-day probationary period, and all employees must adhere to current Employee Handbook policies.
