Job Summary
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for maintaining the payroll system and processing payroll according to the weekly schedule in accordance with regulations. The role is responsible for ensuring that the company's employees get paid in a timely and accurate fashion. This role will produce reports when necessary, communicate with employees to answer any questions related to payroll and ensure compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities & Duties
Accurately processes payroll for all employees within the organization on a weekly basis.
Maintains personnel database regarding salaries for all employees.
Accurately checks time sheets for accuracy, working with managers regarding any discrepancies.
Enter data into ADP and spreadsheets as it is related to payroll.
Handles all direct deposit requests.
Works with accounting to produce manual checks when required.
Accurately processing all wage garnishments.
Makes adjustment in pay for raises, bonuses or any other changes in pay.
Communicates with employees regarding any issues related to pay and any modifications that may happen.
Responsible for the data entry and evaluation for accuracy and completeness of regular time, vacation payout, salary, leave of absence, overtime, severance payroll, retro payments, etc...
Participates in all discussions in relation to payroll when needed.
Works with the accounting team regarding payroll reports or other information needed related to payroll.
Updates payroll database regarding federal, state and local changes related to payroll.
Responsible for unemployment claims.
Accurately issues W2's to all employees on a timely basis.
Works closely with the payroll database to ensure all regulations are being followed appropriately.
Ensures benefit rates are accurate in the payroll database.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience & Requirements
5+ years of experience in payroll preferably in a construction or similar field.
Associates degree in finance or accounting required, bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience processing multistate payroll using ADP.
Working knowledge of applicable government regulations.
Familiarity with computer systems (MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, ADP is a plus), which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer systems.
